Unlocking Higher DDR5 Speeds with a Custom RCD Socket on the FS2670A

FuturePlus Systems is excited to announce the addition of a custom high-performance elastomer socket to the FS2670A DDR5 RDIMM Interposer. This socket is specifically designed to house the DDR5 Registering Clock Driver (RCD), giving users the ability to swap out the RCD on the interposer. By doing so, engineers can align the RCD manufacturer on the FS2670A
with that of the RDIMM Under Test (DUT), creating a perfectly matched setup for more accurate validation and debug.

This enhancement solves a long-standing challenge in DDR5 validation: mismatched RCDs between the interposer and the DUT can cause compatibility and timing variances that reduce achievable data rates. With the new socket, users gain the flexibility to change the RCD, ensuring both the DUT and interposer operate with the same vendor’s RCD. The result is a cleaner signal environment, improved correlation between test and system behavior, and the ability to confidently push designs to their maximum speeds.

The payoff is significant. Leveraging this socketed RCD approach, FuturePlus Systems has successfully achieved 8000 MT/s operation with all three major RCD manufacturers. When combined with the proven capabilities of the FS2670A interposer—industry’s only DDR5 RDIMM interposer offering Address/Command/Control —engineers now have a flexible, future-proof toolset for DDR5 validation.
