Frequently Asked Questions - Agilent 16900-series Logic Analyzers

Q. Why are some FuturePlus products not supported in the 16900 / 16902 / 16903?

A. These new logic analysis system mainframes use a totally different operating system ( Windows® XP Pro) than the older 16700 system. This required that the protocol decode software that is included in our products be totally rewritten (not just ported). This has been a massive effort. We have created new software for the products that our research deemed most important first. If you wish support for a product we have not upgraded yet yet send us an email.

Q. What's different about the 16900 / 16902 / 16903?

A.When you’re debugging a design, you need to focus on solving your problems—not on mastering your debug tools. That’s the thinking behind Agilent’s new 16900 series of logic analysis systems. These instruments work intuitively, so you can answer critical design questions without first becoming an expert in measurement instruments.

You’ll understand your logic analyzer right out of the box—thanks to the familiar Windows®-based features, the easy-to-navigate interface and the straightforward triggering. High performance doesn’t mean difficult to operate. Just turn the instrument on and start putting the pieces together.

In addition, there are three new logic analyzer modules being introduced, the 16910, 16911 and 16950. You can see details of these modules in the 16900 product pages.

Q. Will I require any software changes to use the 16900 / 16902 / 16903?

A. Yes. If you go to the individual product pages for your product you will find information there. Each new product purchase will include one license for use with the 16900 series mainframes. Additional licenses are available for purchase.
