Frequently Asked Questions - FS2331 DDR1 DIMM Analysis Probe Q. Which DIMMs does your FS2331 DDR Analysis Probe support? A. The FS2331 supports registered and non-registered DIMMS. Both x4 and x8 SDRAMS are supported. The probe fits in a standard 184-pin DIMM socket. Q. How does the Agilent logic analyzer connect to the FS2331 DDR Analysis Probe? A. The FS2331 attaches to the logic analyzer with a High Density Termination Adapter. Two are available. The FS1014 (Agilent E5378A) attaches to a 16753A to 16756A or 16760A and the FS1015 (Agilent E5385A) attaches to a 16717, 16740 or 16750. The necessary impedance matching networks are included in the adapters. Q. What software is included with the FS2331 DDR Analysis Probe? A. Files are included that automatically set up your Agilent logic analyzer for state or timing analysis mode and label all the signal names. Another file is the transactor, which translates the signals into bus transactions during state analysis. Q. Does your probe get its power from my system? A. No. There is an external power supply included with the FS2331 which you must use. Q. I'd like to know what the FS2331 loading is like. What is the analog bandwidth when combined with the Agilent LA, i.e. can it represent the clock waveforms accurately? A. The FS2331 DDR333 probe is designed to emulate the signal loading of a PC2700 Registered DIMM per the Rev. C raw card spec. Additionally, there are pads placed on the DDR signals where they exit the FS2331 probe and connect to the LA. These pads allow a user to add capacitance to emulate heavier loading on the system. Depending on the LA module used in the Agilent 16700/702, the user can have a timing resolution accuracy of either 500 ps (1671X or 16750/1/2 cards) or 250 ps (16753/4/5/6 cards) when looking at waveforms. It is easy to demonstrate this on the logic analyzer. Q. How do I find out what are the latest versions of Agilent logic analyzer operating software? A. Contact your nearest Agilent Call Center. Q. How do I know which Agilent logic analyzer is best for my needs? A. Click here.
